The energy industry of Tatarstan is a regional sector of the economy that provides the production, transportation and sale of electrical and thermal energy.

The energy system of Tatarstan is included in the UES of Russia, being part of the Unified Energy System of the Middle Volga, and is also located in the operating zone of the branch of “SO UES” JSC—“Regional Dispatch Office of the Energy System of the Republic of Tatarstan” (RDO of Tatarstan).

In the energy complex of the republic in 2021, power consumption in the region amounted to 31.9 billion kWh, which is 9.6 percent higher than in 2020.

Generation and consumption of thermal energy is growing every year. 2,274 thermal energy sources operated in the Republic of Tatarstan in 2021. In 2021, 42.5 million Gcal were supplied to consumers of the republic (an increase by 8.5 percent compared to 2020), with 34.4 mln Gcal in the combined generation mode (an increase by 7.6 percent compared to 2020).

Objectives in the energy industry of the Republic of Tatarstan for 2023:

implementation of investment projects for modernization of energy capacities;

development of wind energy in the Republic of Tatarstan;

introduction of digital technologies in the energy system of the Republic;

development of a program to create charging stations for electric vehicles;

development of hydrogen energy;
